AUTHOR
I loved my first Gayna Murphy cover so much I begged my
publishers to commission her for the next two. After the hard
years of writing, I can’t describe how gratifying it is to have a
designer of Gayna’s talent apply such detailed care and skill to
shaping the book into a visual work of art. She listened to my
vague ideas about each story’s imagery and then took them
somewhere surprising, beautiful and striking, and I’ve had many
writer friends express envy at the sensitivity of her designs to
the mood of each novel without sacrificing impact. This is rare
and precious thing. A Gayna cover is a real gift to a writer – for
me, it means I can take my years of anxious hard work out into
the world with honest pride, and lets me feel it’s possible my
book might be a gift of beauty to a reader too. |

Collaborating with Gayna on any project is incredibly
rewarding. I have worked with her on many large and
complex books over the past few years and she is one
in a million. Gayna instantly understands the essence of
a book, and her inspiration in coming up with the best
look and feel for each title seems effortless.
Her unfailing dedication, incredible aesthetic sense – right down to the last detail, and her warm and
generous spirit make her an absolute joy to work with.

AUTHORS
Greg and I were lucky enough to have Gayna design our
most recent book, Saha, and the revised, deluxe edition of
our very first book Arabesque. In both instances, she totally
‘got’ the feel that we were after and we could not have
been more delighted with the results.
As authors, it can be a little tense waiting to see how a
designer interprets your written work yet Gayna seems
to understand and fulfil the brief effortlessly and skilfully.
She listens to the various party’s requirements, researches
the subject matter extensively and brings her own brilliant
instinct to the table as well. You always feel
she’s utterly
committed to the project. She’s a
joy to work with and
I can’t recommend her
highly enough.

RANDOM HOUSE AUSTRALIA
Gayna is such a pleasure to work with. She shows an
affinity with all books she works on – seems to know
instinctively what they need. Her covers have raised the
bar for design standards in Australia and contributed to
our covers being used and admired overseas. I would
have no hesitation whatsoever in recommending
Gayna for design in any of its myriad of forms.

The vision, sensitivity and style
Gayna brings to a book design
does true justice to the beautiful
words therein. Quite simply, she
is a brilliant designer.
